alanhinkel > Green Heron on a Sailboats Spring Line.The lines are used to prevent damage during Tropical Storms and Hurricanes.This one was being used for Hurricane Gustav.We didn't get hit but it did cause some damage.On the previous photo,gpssue suggested that I recrop the image to take the bird off center.That's what I've done here.Thanks for your opinion gpssue,it is greatly appreciated.

alanhinkel > There is a Sea Wall about 25-30 yards from the concrete barrier behind the metal one.The city imports sand for this beach,but the storm surge from Hurricanes Gustav and Ike made the water rise above the sea wall,sand,and road.During Katrina the water height was 20-25 feet above this.I live 0.6 miles from where this photo was taken.

alanhinkel > Storm Surge and High Surf on Beach Blvd.12 Sept.2008.(Ike)We had minor inconveniences from Gustav,and Ike.No bad damage,Thank God.Notice how that Oak Tree is leaning to the north.Their are a lot of Oaks on Beach Blvd.like this one.The reason is Hurricane Katrina.
